Ground Breaking

Groundbreaking for phase one of the development of Advent Mission Institute, Inc. is scheduled for this Sunday, November 16, 2:00-2:30 p.m. The Berrien Springs community is invited to join AMI founders, staff, and friends for refreshments and a brief shovels-in-the-ground ceremony to celebrate. The Journal Era, a local newspaper, offered to print a front page article. A half-page announcement for the event will also be in this week’s publication. Despite the blanket of snow here at the time of writing, the forecast for November 16th lists a high temperature in the mid-50s. It appears that God may have reserved one more nice weekend for an AMI event! Michigan winter weather will not stop the crew preparing to erect the shell of the multipurpose building this January. D & L Construction, an Amish-based group from Indiana, have a track record of erecting high quality pole buildings in record time, even in the winter. They will provide the basic structure, and local contractors will complete the building throughout the Winter and Spring months. The first event to be held in the Multipurpose building will be a Religious Liberty Conference, August 20-22, 2026, with over 20 speakers from around the U.S. expected. Stay tuned to future newsletters for more details.

Sound Equipment

Those gathered at the Open House on October 18 heard the debut of AMI’s sound system. It arrived just in time for the event and served well, despite our developing understanding of how to use it to its full potential. Musicianary, Matt Minikus, volunteered his time to compile an equipment list that would meet our two-fold need: a quality, portable PA system that could be used outdoors for events as well as indoors in our Multipurpose building. His list included Bose L1Pro32 L1 Pro Portable speaker towers and bass modules, a CQ18T 16-ch CQ Digital Mixer that is capable of recording multiple channels onto an SD card, four Shure Microphones, a headset mic, mic stands, frequency manager, component rack, and the proper cords necessary to connect it all together. It was a blessing to have someone so versed in the technicalities of the equipment do the research for us. And we are especially grateful that Mr. Minikus came to Berrien Springs to unbox the many parts and pieces and teach us how to set it up. He also offered to return and train us how to operate the new system in a variety of settings. This cutting-edge, sound equipment should serve us well for years to come! Thank you to everyone who donated toward this need.
