2025 Year-End Donations Exceed Expectations
AMI would like to thank the donor who offered the $50,000 matching funds. That $50,000 was reached via a multitude of smaller donations resulting in $100,000 being raised. And the funds kept coming in! Thank you to everyone who participated in the year-end giving campaign. Donations far exceeded expectations and have helped forward the mission of AMI. “We have so much more to do, but we are encouraged by your generosity and faithfulness. I wish I could personally thank every one of you!” ~ Pastor Ron KellySand Brigade for Building Project
The recently purchased AMI dump truck and Pastor Kelly with his CDL license have been put to work hauling 13 loads of sand to level the building site in preparation for the intense sand brigade next week. The first few days on the job site were a bit “exciting” as over six inches of melted snow left the field quite muddy. The powerful little dozer proved its worth by pulling the weighty dump truck out of the rut it had sunk into overnight on the thawed driveway. But the crew found their rhythm and work is underway. A trench has been dug on what will be the north side of the Multipurpose Building. Next, a concrete footer will be poured in the trench. A retaining wall built of rebar and poured concrete will go up to hold back the five-foot wall of sand which will ensure a level building site. Wednesday and Thursday of next week, the property will feel the rumblings of four to five dump trucks as 120 loads of sand are brought in. That is 2,730 tons of sand! The schedule is tight: 124 tons dumped per hour. The gravel yard, which is closed for the winter, has agreed to open especially for AMI. As the sand is being dumped, the bulldozer will spread it out, and two vibratory compactors will settle it down, going over the entire area five times. This will create a very solid foundation and will prevent settling and the potential to have low spots or shifts in grade with weather changes. The compacted foundational material will create a base for the concrete floor of the pole barn, which the Amish are coming to erect toward the end of February. Last night we had over a foot of snow with additional inches in the forecast. In fact, there are white-out blizzard conditions at the time of this writing. This is to be expected in Michigan in the winter, but we hope and pray for breaks in the weather in which to continue our work. Please keep the January 21 and 22 sand brigade in your prayers!AMI’s Second Employee
Dan Hansen was hired on December 28, to help with Donor Relations and Planned Giving and Trust Services. He will be assisting donors with information about projects and opportunities to support AMI. (A detailed explanation about Planned Giving and Trust Services will be published in an upcoming newsletter.)
Dan comes to us from The Voice of Prophecy, where he served as a Donor Relations Field Representative and completed training as a Planned Giving and Trust Services Officer.
Prior employment includes Andrews University, where he served as Manager of Plant Services and Custodial Departments, and the Michigan Conference, where he served as Manager of Camp Au Sable, followed by ten years with the Rocky Mountain Conference as Director of Camp Ministries at Glacier View Ranch. This experience with Youth Ministry and construction will add depth to his ministry at AMI.
Dan is well respected in Adventist circles for his transparency, problem solving skills, and dependability; however, his favorite aspect of ministry is developing relationships with donors and supporters. He looks forward to this relational ministry among us.
Dan has been married to his wife, Julia, for 40 years. They have one daughter, a son-in-law, and two beloved grandchildren. In his free time, Dan enjoys golf, RV camping, and hiking. (Actually, he doesn’t particularly enjoy hiking. However, his wife loves to hike, so he goes along to be together.) Dan especially enjoys spending time babysitting his grandchildren. The Hansens will retain their home in Colorado, and Dan will travel from that central United States location.
We are grateful to have Dan as part of the AMI team and are certain you will enjoy getting to know him! Welcome Dan Hansen to the team or ask a question by contacting him at: 989-745-3888.
